This Privacy Policy describes how Aequia ("we", "our", or "us") handles personal data when you use our mobile application, website, and related features (collectively, the "Service"). We take your privacy seriously and want you to understand exactly what data we gather, why we gather it, and what control you have over it.

Data We Gather

We collect data in two ways: information you give us directly, and information generated automatically when you use the Service.

Information you supply. When you create an account or edit your profile you may provide your email address, display name, photo, date of birth, and a short bio. If you contact our support team, we also retain the correspondence.

Content you create. Posts, comments, messages, and any other material you submit to the Service are stored on our servers. Anything you share publicly can be seen by other users.

Technical data. Our servers automatically log your IP address, device type, operating system version, browser or app version, preferred language, and general geographic region (derived from your IP). We also use cookies and similar tracking technologies to understand how people navigate the Service.

Why We Use Your Data

• To operate the Service — creating accounts, delivering messages, and running core platform features.
• To personalize your experience — surfacing relevant content and suggestions.
• To keep the platform safe — detecting spam, fraud, and abusive behavior.
• To improve the product — analyzing aggregate usage patterns, fixing bugs, and developing new features.
• To communicate with you — sending service updates, security alerts, and (with your consent) occasional product news.

When We Share Your Data

We do not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:

• Infrastructure partners. We work with cloud hosting, analytics, and email delivery providers to run the Service. These vendors only process data on our behalf and under contractual safeguards.
• Legal obligations. We may disclose information when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process — for example, in response to a court order or government investigation.
• Corporate events. If Aequia is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user data may be among the transferred assets. We will notify you before any such transfer occurs.

Your Data Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may be entitled to:

• Access or obtain a machine-readable copy of your personal data.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete records.
• Request deletion of your data (see also: account deletion in our Help Center).
• Restrict or object to certain processing activities.
• Withdraw previously given consent at any time.

How We Protect Your Data

All data in transit is encrypted via TLS and data at rest is encrypted using AES-256 or equivalent. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel and protected by multi-factor authentication. While no system can guarantee perfect security, we continuously review and improve our defenses.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we begin removing your data after the 30-day recovery window. Certain records — such as anonymized analytics and data we are legally required to keep — may be retained longer.

Age Requirements

Aequia is designed for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has registered, we will delete the account and associated data promptly. Please let us know if you suspect a minor is using the Service.

Cookies & Tracking

We use first-party cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and gather aggregated usage statistics. You can manage or disable cookies in your browser or device settings, though doing so may affect certain features.
